Friends and family have shared many memories and thoughts about my father on the event page for his service in Chicago, hosted on Facebook. This is a public page, you don't need a Facebook profile to view it. https://www.facebook.com/events/563294387097161/

  1. We met Jimmy once, when he came to Oakland with Rachel to see where Alayna had landed in her life in California. They came to our home, near hers, where we sat around, got to know Jimmie (we'd met Rachel on another trip) and then went out on the town celebrating First Friday, a monthly Oakland art and music happening. We'd met Alayna two Thanksgiving holidays ago, through their neighbor Carin W who had called and asked us to put her up while she looked for her first place in Oakland where she was moving for her first job after college. She loved our neighborhood so much, she found a place a few blocks away and has been here for the past two years. After hanging out at our house, we drove down to Telegraph, shared a meal, and then walked through the streets while First Friday went on around us, enjoying Oakland's diverse art community and all the street music. Jimmie seemed like a great guy and we are glad we had the privilege of getting to know him however briefly.
