I met "Mr. Liptak" in 1985, when I was a struggling 10th grade student. Jim was the teacher for an ISP school for "bad" kids. I was watching a movie tonight here at home, that he had shown during class that year. I wont name it, but it was "bad" too. I've tried searching for him before, but I was shocked and extremely saddened to hear of his passing. I only wish this man knew how much he helped change my life. I'm looking forward to another basketball game some day. And to apologize for the TP we put on his house on our last day of class that year! And a few others that day. I wouldn't be where I'm at now without him. I'm now 46 and own a home a few blocks from that lil house we had class in. He's always in my thoughts when I drive by, and now my prayers. I always knew he was a special man, but in watching these videos, he was honestly much more than I ever even knew. My condolences to all his family and friends.
Thank you Lance, it's always nice to hear that people are still thinking of my dad and that he made such a big difference to so many. He was truly a wonderful man and I'm so glad that you reached out and left a note. All my best - Alayna
Had your dad in that little house in SeaTac,and at OSC,when as a senior in HS who had to do an extra semester the following year just to get my HS Diploma. He never sugarcoated anything to me,and he said something that has stuck with me all my adult life, stop spinning your wheels.Suffice to say, without him being my favorite teacher of all time, would never would have received my HS Diploma.God bless you Liptak family, for sharing, him, with all involved.
